Yet Another Happy Customer - and Friend
Georgellen bought several paintings from me. This latest one....The Pumpkin Truck is an 8 X 6 inch acrylic on 140 lb watercolor paper. It was all of $20.00.
and here is the picture she sent me after it was framed. I think it looks great and she loves the painting too. (she said the mat is actually lavender but didn't photograph well)

I love to make my customers happy....but I'm even happier when the customer is also a friend!
Janice is both a customer and friend. She purchased two paintings from my Daily Paintworks gallery not long ago. She couldn't wait to get them and have them framed so they could hang in her home. Here are the paintings:
Both were only 15.00 and size 5 X 7 inch watercolors. I got an email of her paintings after they were framed:
She hasn't decided where she wants to hang them but she bought two original watercolors from me for less than the price of a print and now that they're framed, they look great!

A Word to Collectors of Original Art and Those New to Original Art
I know there are many of you who hesitate to buy directly from artists but the ones I've dealt with on Daily Paintworks are a good bunch. They, myself included, depend on sales to keep us going. I know in my case, my prices are ridiculously small. That's because I love to paint and, at my age, I have no goals to reach. I'm retired, in my 70's and just look to make some extra money to supplement my retirement. Support art...without it, our world would be a crude, rude place.
You have no idea how good and how different original art looks in your home. I've countless emails from satisfied customers who were unaware they could get good original art for less then the price of a print. Please take a stroll through my Daily Paintworks gallery and see for yourself.

Recently, I spent the day at a local arts festival. People looked through my work and said "got any roosters?" No, didn't have a one...so I set out to rectify the situation. My latest work is a large (for me) 11 X 14 canvas panel entitled "The Boss". :-)
Perfect for a country kitchen or dining area. You can check out the Daily Paintworks auction for this original, one of a kind piece:

Toys? Just Because
I firmly believe that an artist can paint almost anything and continually challenge myself to do just that. This one is called Watchful Toys. It seems when stuffed toys that you simply took off the floor and put on a couch or chair seem to be watching whatever is going on.

Why?
Many people have asked me why my paintings are so reasonable. They are sure I put more work into them then I am charging for. Well, when I do a special painting like Night and Day or Toward the Light, yes, I charge what I feel they're worth. Most of my paintings now are small. I can paint them fast and I can enjoy painting them. I want them to sell and I want them to sell fast so I can paint some more. Truth is by the time I pass on (I'm 74 years old) I want thousands of my paintings out there for people to enjoy I have already sold over 3,000 on Ebay from 1998 to present. Perhaps, for a second they will remember me. I have had people contact me to ask if I painted this or that...one from the 1970's was left a painting by a relative. Yes, it was mine and I remembered it well and even remembered the person who bought it from me at an art show in New Jersey.
My goal is not to be famous...that happens about as often as a singer or performer becomes world famous...which is not often at all. Out of the thousands upon thousands of artists in the world, only a few become famous and command high prices. Long ago, I gave up that dream and instead simply enjoy my painting and my paintings. If, sometime after I'm gone these paintings happen to become famous well, then that's a treat for the buyer. Like most elderly people, I'm happy with what I have.
I hope you enjoy my paintings and will visit my gallery on Daily Paintworks.

A Painting Dedicated to My Favorite Hobby....Tatting
Tatting is not the making of tattoos as some folks have asked me. It is a very very old craft of making lace with a shuttle. This painting shows a bit of lace, a red shuttle with thread and my favorite embroidery scissors. If you have always wanted to know about tatting, go to my website: Tatting Just for You where you will find free instructions. A good little video showing the making of the illusive double stitch and many free patterns. If you want more, my tatting books full of original easy patterns are available for sale.

The Holiday Season is Upon Us!
I haven't been out and in the crowds yet so I'm not exactly feeling the spirit yet. I tell everyone when I get off the couch, go out to the garage and get the wreaths for the front door and the back gate then the season will have begun in this house :-)
I hope the stores are doing well because big sales at holiday time helps our economy...no matter how we feel about the season this is a good thing.

Whether we Like it or Not!
The holidays are coming.....don't know what to buy anyone? Why not help out us artists and buy original art for holiday gifts? Here's a sample of something fresh off my painting board:
So many people love candy....why not this 8 X 6" to brighten up a corner of their home or office? Its different....not the same old tie or shirt. I bet it would be appreciated.

Mouse With a Tootsie Roll
Here's a mouse you don't have to be afraid of. He found a Tootsie Roll in the grass and he holds it possessively. He tells the other mice "this is mine...I found it! He is today's daily painting. Only 4 X 4 inches on stretched canvas with 3/4 inch sides painted black. He's ready to hang.

Halloween!
This was my challenge submission this week at Daily Paintworks. The object of the challenge was to show black as whiter then white. I did this with three black kittens in the moonlight. Their black fur showing white highlights in the light of the moon.
I also used this challenge to enforce one thing about Halloween....if you have black cats or dogs please keep them indoors during this holiday. Keep them safe!

My Daily Paintworks Challenge Picture for this week: ICE CREAM!
Isn't that a great subject? I love ice cream....can't eat it though because I'm diabetic. Well, if I can't eat it I still can paint it. Here's my entry this week. Listed it last night and it sold this morning. (Wish they all sold like that):

Support Daily Paintworks Artists
There are all sorts of artists making all kinds of paintings almost daily on the site. Please...they can't do that forever without your support. A small painting or ACEO will help keep an artist painting.

The Look of Spring
I love the mottled backgrounds I see in photos where the foreground is sharp and the background is muted. I tried to get that look here with watercolor while painting the butterfly and flowers in acrylic. I think I hit the mark (for once) :-)

Mountains, Mountains, Mountains
This week the DPW challenge was "Mountains". I did two for the challenge and one that will be on auction at midnight tonight. I find them easy to pull out of my imagination. The one thing I can't do is make too many. Some artists have only a few topics they enjoy. I try to vary my work as much as possible. It keeps me interested and hope my work keeps you interested too.
Oh...before I forget. You can join this blog and you certainly can comment. I'd love to hear from you because after awhile I begin to feel I'm the only person here! :-) You are always welcome to browse my gallery at Daily Paintworks (link below)
The top one is a 5 X 7 inch acrylic against a watercolor sky. The bottom one is a 4 X 5 inch acrylic. Both can be found in my gallery:

Pastel Art - The Lesson
This is a soft pastel on Mi Tientes Pastel Paper. I don't do many of these. I'm kind of allergic to the dust a pastel drawing makes while you're working with it. Still, with laytex gloves, a surgical mask and the great outdoors, I manage to do one now and then.
This is one of the paintings done years ago that I am finally trying to find a home for. Its done in Rembrandt soft pastels and Conte A Paris pastel pencils on Mi Tientes Pastel Paper. I'm 73 now and its time....I can no longer keep my favorites stored up. They need to find homes.
I call this one "The Lesson" because every good wolf needs to teach his young the proper way to howl at the moon!

Another Crack At Daily Paintwork's Monthly Contest
I never win these things, never even get in one of the 15 top spots for the month.....that's okay. I understand competition and I also understand one should never just give up ;-)
This is my entry into the current monthly contest. Its kind of far out...but sometimes, so am I.
